These are the contents that we taught

Preschool

Circle time and conversation
Is taught in English

These are the welcome activities that the teacher utilizes: songs, poetry, circle games and a period of conversation about the topics that are being developed in the classroom.

Spanish
Is taught in Spanish

Fine motor skill activities and, depending on the level, recognition of the letters sounds and initial sounds of the words. Practice following instructions and using words to increase vocabulary.

Physical Education
Is taught in Spanish

Activities and games that promote the development of gross motor and visual motor skills. Team activities are generated and the technical principles of sports such as soccer and gymnastics are given.

English
Is taught in English

The teachers carry out activities to introduce and recognize the sound of the letter related to the symbol as well as writing the letter. The introduction of the study of phonemes is fundamental, as well as the oral practice of the language through the vocabulary topic of the month and everyday vocabulary.

Swimming
Is taught in Spanish

The development of the game as a learning tool, allows preschool children to experience the first activities of the sport of swimming. Kicking, breathing, and coordination are some of the basic learnings at this age.

Mathematics
Is taught in English

According to the level, the necessary and basic pre-mathematical concepts are introduced for each age. Recognize colors, sizes, thickness, and shape. The relationship of the number symbol with the quantity is also introduced in a logical and reasoned way (not by rote).

Art
Is taught in Spanish

Refers to activities where fine motor activities are encouraged. Some materials that allow us to enjoy this subject are glue, scissors, crepe paper, tissue paper, white and colored sheets, reusable materials, tempera and clay.

Music
Is taught in Spanish

The enjoyment of music should start from an early age. Playing with different instruments, rhythms, recognizing sounds are essential to encourage the enjoyment of musical rhythms and incorporate them into life skills.

Gardening

An area that is used as a living laboratory, where spaces for experimentation and development of skills are generated in integrated educational programs, from the ¨bio ecoliteracy¨ approach.

Snack

Students have a mid-morning snack before leaving for the first recess. Snack time is not more than 30 minutes. According to the level and development stage of the child, autonomy of feeding is promoted as we encourage them to solve their own needs.

Lunch

Students can buy lunch at the school cafeteria, or an assistant warms up the food brought from home. They have lunch in their class in the company of the teacher. According to the level and development of the child, autonomy of feeding is promoted as the search to solve their needs.

Recess

Students have two recesses with children from the same level. The playing areas are designed for free play and socialization among equals. We have two zones demarcated to ensure student´s safety.

Elementary

Spanish
Is taught in Spanish

The curriculum is established by the Ministry of Education from Costa Rica at each level of basic education. The book used complies with the curriculum for each level in Spanish as a first language.

Social Studies
Is taught in Spanish

The curriculum is established by the Ministry of Education from Costa Rica at each level of basic education. It is based on the country of Costa Rica, festive dates, civic events and pre-Columbian history.

Mathematics
Is taught in English

We are based on the Common Core from United States. The student uses a book that meets the standards of the bilingual curriculum and establishes foundational and practical math skills.

Science
Is taught in English

The science subject has a 100% practical book that allows us to establish a project-based learning methodology that allows the development of soft skills in our students.

English
Is taught in English

Las Nubes School has an English program based on the Common Core of United States, where teachers work with a program that is friendly to the interests and needs of each learning level. Using a reading-based program allows one to build positive reading habits and promote those habits through the senior year of high school. Our students are acquiring English as their first language through the methodology used by teachers who have English as their first language.

Art
Is taught in Spanish

Basic concepts of different artistic techniques and the history of different artists are also introduced.

Music
Is taught in Spanish

The enjoyment of music must be learned by playing with different instruments, rhythms, knowing sounds and an initial introduction to music theory. These activities are essential to encourage the enjoyment of musical rhythms and incorporate them into life.

Physical Education

Activities and games that promote the development of gross motor and visual-motor skills. Team activities are generated and the technical principles of sports such as soccer, gymnastics, volleyball, kickball, baseball, track and field, and basketball are given.

Swimming
Is taught in Spanish

The freestyle and breaststroke technique is introduced, and, according to the ability, the technique of the backstroke and butterfly styles. Kicking, breathing, and coordination are basic learnings that must be perfected through practice.

Gardening
Is taught in English and Spanish

An area that is used as a living laboratory, where spaces for experimentation and development of skills are generated in integrated educational programs, from the “bio ecoliteracy” approach.

Life Skills
Is taught in English

This class fosters the ability of our students to make decisions and carry out actions that positively impact their lives and the people around them.

Robotics
Is taught in Spanish

In this space, through the construction of intelligent machines and through the work of STEM subjects, skills such as logic, abstraction, reasoning, creativity, and problem solving are developed.

Snack

Students have a 15-minute mid-morning snack that is shared with recess. According to the level and development of the child, autonomy of feeding is promoted as the search to solve their needs.

Lunch

Students can buy lunch in the cafeteria or heat the one they bring from home. They share the cafeteria area. The teacher accompanies them, but autonomy is encouraged in the search for practical solutions to their needs.

Students have two recesses with children from the same school year. The play areas are designed for free play and socialization among equals. We have two zones demarcated to ensure student safety.

High School

Spanish
Is taught in Spanish

We operate under a Spanish as a first language curriculum for each level. The program focuses on the skills of writing, speaking, and reading comprehension. Therefore, students are constantly working on written creation, oral presentations, as well as the development of critical thinking and analysis through reading.

Estudios Sociales
Se imparte en idioma español

El currículo es el establecido por el Ministerio de Educación para Costa Rica en cada nivel. Tiene como objetivo que los estudiantes adquieran el conocimiento de la realidad sobre la base de una visión histórica y geográfica desde los ejes de la Economía, Cultura, Ambiente, Sociedad y Política.

Civic Education
Is taught in Spanish

The curriculum is established by the Ministry of Education for Costa Rica at each level. Its objective is to improve the capacities necessary for collective life by developing knowledge about the institutional and legal structure of the country, as well as the spaces of the political and electoral system.

Mathematics
Is taught in Spanish

The curriculum established by the Ministry of Education for Costa Rica at each level is used as a basis; however, it is enriched with a higher level of difficulty, promoting logical-mathematical analysis. Thus, allowing students in Eleventh grade the opportunity to cover topics from initial college courses.

Sciences
Is taught in Spanish

In this subject student works with a project-based learning methodology that allows the development of soft skills in our students such as teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving, among others.

Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Is taught in Spanish

For tenth and eleventh grade, the three subjects are taught separately. The curriculum established by the Ministry of Education for Costa Rica at each level for each subject is used as a basis.

English
Is taught in English

Las Nubes School has an English as a First Language curriculum based on reading. The skills of reading, writing, grammar and oral expression are also worked on.

World History / Geography
Is taught in English

An international program is used where students learn about world historical events and world geography, relating this information to the present.

Art
Is taught in Spanish

Refers to activities where fine motor activities and creativity are encouraged. Basic concepts of different artistic techniques are introduced. The reuse of materials to make art is encouraged. In addition, the history of different artists is also presented.

Physical Education
Is taught in Spanish

) It works on the technical principles of sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball and track-and field. In addition, there are activities and games that encourage movement and teamwork.

Life Skills
Is taught in English

Workshops Program

Different topics are worked on during the year that aim to develop skills and healthy habits of our students. They are taught by professionals in their area of work. Some of the topics included are nutrition, entrepreneurship, creativity, money management, environmental impact, mindfulness, etc.

Snack

Students have a 20-minute snack in the middle of the morning that is shared with recess, where they have different spaces for fun activities.

Lunch

Students can buy lunch in school cafeteria or heat the one they bring from home. They share the cafeteria area.
